Location: Depot based from Watford, WD24
Description: As a Recovery Patrol for this prestigious company you will be required to attend broken-down Light Vehicles (cars and vans) by the roadside, load onto Recovery Truck and take to designated drop-off point i.e. garage or home address.
Licence: The client prefers drivers who hold their full, UK, HGV1 (LGVCE or LGVC+E) licence (this is for towing entitlement) however they will accept applications from HGV2 (LGVC) holders who are prepared to take their LGVC+E licence in the future (funded by the company)
Maximum of 3 points on licence for minor endorsements and no outstanding DD, DR or CD penalties.
Digi-Tacho: Required on starting
Driver’s CPC: Full DCPC required
Experience: No experience in the breakdown & recovery industry is required as full training will be given. All applicants must have at least 1 year’s commercial driving experience in an HGV2 vehicle or higher category.
People Skills: All applicants must have superb customer care skills and be able to communicate effectively with the general public in stressful and difficult situations. There is never a “good time to break down” and people can be upset and worried, especially being by the side of the road.
Applicants must be prepared to work in all weather conditions, be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
Training: They offer a full, paid for, induction training programme and on-going training throughout employment.
Shift Pattern: Combination of day, late and night shifts on a repeating roster. Will include some weekend and Bank Holiday working as per the roster.
Overtime: All AA Recovery Patrols are rostered for Contractual Overtime; approximately 2 additional shifts per month. In addition, there is “end of shift” overtime as part of their flex roster and opportunities for extra shifts on a voluntary basis.
Hours per Shift: 8.75 hours + flex working (up to 11.5 “end of shift” overtime hours per day as the business requires)
Basic per Week: 41.5 per week (Basic Hours + Contractual Overtime)
Average: 47.75 per week (Basic Hours + Contractual Overtime + Voluntary Overtime)
HGV1: OTE £33,000+ (inclusive of Guaranteed Basic, Allowances & Overtime).
HGV2: OTE £30,000+ (inclusive of Guaranteed Basic, Allowances & Overtime).
The full package includes – bonuses, incentives, company discounts and pension.
Job Status: Permanent (Interviews and start dates from May 2018)
Vetting: They will require full vetting including referencing for up to 2 years. They also require a full DBS check and financial checks as per the FCA requirements.
