Introduction: We are an agency recruiting for a large operator within the automotive, breakdown & recovery industry. Our client, a well-established and expanding company, is looking to recruit a Commercial Service Van / Mobile HGV Technician to join their team.
Job Title: Commercial Service Van / Mobile HGV Technician
Location: Home based from Oxfordshire
Description: Roadside based Commercial Service Van / Mobile HGV Technician to attend HGV Tractor Units and Trailers and complete repairs, PMIs, grease-ups etc, as required.
Predominantly working with Petrol Tankers candidates MUST hold a current ADR (or be prepared to take an immediate refresher course) and full LGVC+E licence.
Working from home and covering an agreed geographic area, successful candidates will be provided with a brand new, fully-kitted (except hand tools), service van.
Qualifications & Experience: Qualified and highly experienced as a Commercial Vehicle Technician or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics is essential with up-to-date diagnostic skills including using Texta if possible.
60% of the work will be on the trailer rather than the tractor unit so candidates must have recent, relevant experience.
Skills: Exceptional technical skills and experience of all types of HGVs and trailers.
Licence: The ideal candidate will hold a full, UK, LGVC+E licence with a maximum of 6 points on licence for minor endorsements and no outstanding DD, DR or CD penalties.
ADR, DCPC and Digi-tacho card are also required.
Training: Our client offers Induction training which includes safe use of the vehicle provided, Health & Safety and paperwork & procedures and ongoing training throughout employment.
People Skills: All applicants must have superb customer care skills and be able to communicate effectively with their work colleagues and, in some cases, the general public in stressful and difficult situations.
Applicants must be prepared to work in all weather conditions, be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
A good level of fitness is required as the work can be very heavy.
Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday plus every other Saturday (for pre-booked jobs only)
Hours: 06:00 – 16:00 / 14:00 – 00:00 (rotating each week); 50 hours per week + Voluntary Overtime and Voluntary On-Call Rota
Salary: £17 per hour + Overtime, On-Call Payments & Bonus
Job Status: Permanent with immediate interviews and starts available.
Vetting: Our client will undertake vetting including referencing for up to 5 years. They will also require a full NPPV Level 2 Police Check.
